SunPower signs polysilicon purchase deals with NorSun

Reuters: Solar company SunPower Corp (SPWR.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said it signed two polysilicon purchase deals with Norway’s NorSun AS and its partners to support in aggregate 2500 megawatts of solar cell production.

NorSun AS and its partners are building a polysilicon plant in Saudi Arabia, and SunPower expects deliveries from the plant to begin in 2010 and extend through 2019. The contracts add to San Jose, California-based SunPower’s portfolio of intermediate and long-term silicon supply contracts that support its cost reduction roadmap.
